BORDER NEWS

In a most unusual story that shows the lengths to which people will go to enter the US, officials discovered a man hidden in the wheel well of an Air France plane when it landed at Los Angles International Airport.  They believe that he stowed away, hiding during the entire trip from French Polynesia.  After he was discovered he was taken to the UCLA Medical Center and treated for severe hypothermia.  Officials are not sure if he made the entire trip concealed in the wheel well or whether he hid inside of the plane and emerged after it landed.

The assistant officer in charge of the Deming, New Mexico Border Patrol office was fired because of his affair with an undocumented immigrant, according to recently obtained reports from the Justice Department.  According to the letter in which he was notified of his firing, he improperly released his girlfriend after she was arrested.

*********

Border Patrol agents rescued ten undocumented immigrants in southern Arizona after their car broke down and the person smuggling them abandoned them.  The group was stranded in a military gun training area at an area Air Force base.  They said that they were stranded for two days before being discovered.

*********

Three undocumented immigrants died after the van in which they were traveling crashed on an interstate in Kansas.  There were 15 people in the van, 13 of whom were ejected after the crash.  None of them were wearing seatbelts.  One of those who died, however, was wearing a seat belt.
