Address:

27 Napier Road

Singapore 258508

CONSULAR SECTION

Tel: (65)-476-9100 (public inquiries 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. only)

Fax: (65)-476-9232

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

NONIMMIGRANT VISA SECTION:

The Embassy accepts applications for non-immigrant visas only through a travel agent or by local mail.  You can inquire by telephone on non-immigrant visa matters between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. or call the consular information line at 476-9100 (press "3" at the prompt).  The section is open Monday through Friday, but closed for both U.S. and local holidays.

The public hours for immigrant visa matters and other services (other than non-immigrant visas) are 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Visas are normally issued within five to seven working days if submitted through a travel agent and approximately ten working days if mailed in.

Travel agent submissions for a nonimmigrant visa take priority over those mailed in, so to avoid excessive delay, if one is mailing the application, it is important to follow the consulate’s instructions.  The instructions are as follows:

  • Obtain a cashier’s order from a Singapore bank payable to American Embassy Singapore for S.00 for each applicant.  The Embassy cannot accept cash, personal checks, Singapore Post money or postal orders.
  • Complete the visa application form for every traveler, including children endorsed in their parent's passport.  Sign and date on the appropriate place on the back of the form.  Parents should sign for minor children.
  • Attach one passport sized photo taken within the past six months to the back of each application form.  All applicants require a photo, regardless of age. (Applicants with passports from the PRC must include two photos.)
  •  Mail the following items to the Embassy
  •     Passport,  plus any expired passports bearing a U.S. visa

  •     Completed application form, with photo

  •     Cashier's order for S.00

  •     Supporting documents

  •     A self addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage to return your passport(s) and other documents

Singapore citizens traveling to the U.S. for tourism or business for less than 90 days may travel without a visa under the Visa Waiver Pilot Program.  Permanent residents of Singapore are not eligible for the program.  Further requirements for participation are as follows:

  • round trip transportation ticket on a participating carrier
  • no visa ineligibility (e.g., serious criminal record or prior visa refusals)
  • proof of financial solvency

Employment visas:

Beneficiaries of approved employment visas must submit the following to a travel agent.

  • Original Form I-797 Notice of Action from the INS

  • Photocopy of the petition and all supporting documents submitted to INS

  • Application fee – S

  • Completed OF-156 Application for a Nonimmigrant Visa

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months after expected arrival in the US, and

  • One passport-size photo taken within the past six months.
