DEPARTMENT OF LABOR ANNOUNCES MAJOR REORGANIZATION IN HANDLING OF LABOR CERTIFICATION AND H-1B PROCESSING
The Employment Training Administration, a division of the Department of Labor, has announced several major changes in its organizational structures. The ETA is responsible for providing job training for US workers, and for processing both labor certifications and labor conditions applications in green card and H-1B cases. The Alien Labor Certification program will become a separate Division. Also, the current ten regions are being consolidated to six. Two regional offices, Region 3 in Atlanta and Region 2 in Philadelphia, will remain the same. The other eight are being paired to create a hub and an affiliate for each newly designated region. Region 1 will be comprised of Boston and New York (there has been no designation of hub and affiliate yet). In Region 4, the hub is Dallas and the affiliate Denver; in Region 5, the hub is Chicago and the affiliate Kansas City; and in Region 6 the hub is San Francisco and the affiliate Seattle.
