US AND MEXICO ANNOUNCE CREATION OF BILATERAL COMMISSION ON MIGRATION
Several important steps were taken at the 39th annual Mexico-US Interparliamentary Meeting, which was held last weekend. First, the US delegation agreed that it would work to include Mexican officials in the development of drug enforcement policies. Second, there was an agreement to investigate possible vigilante action taken against migrants by people in Arizona. Finally, and most importantly, the creation of a bilateral commission on migration was announced. Among the first tasks of the commission will be a trip to Arizona to investigate the recent appearance of brochures encouraging people to come to the area and “hunt” migrants.
