INS ADMITS DEPORTING MAN IN ERROR
The Houston office of the INS has admitted to improperly deporting a Mexican citizen before allowing him to present his case to an Immigration Judge. Last month the INS deported Salvador Molina one week before his hearing was scheduled. Molina, who has a US citizen wife and five US citizen children, was going to seek cancellation of removal, a remedy that would eventually allow him to become a permanent resident. The INS is investigating the cause of the error. Molina’s family has been told it was a case of mistaken identity. Molina has been twice convicted of DUI offenses, the second of which was a felony. The INS has promised it will allow Molina to enter the US to pursue his court case, and will bring him from the border to Houston for the hearing later this month.
