LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
This week President Clinton signed S. 2812, which provides for a waiver of the oath of allegiance necessary for naturalization in cases where the applicant cannot understand the oath because of a disability.
Congress will be back in session next week, at which time they will work on passing the six remaining budget bills. They are expected to take up immigration issues that remained when they adjourned, specifically the Latino Immigration Fairness Act and its Republican counterpart, the Legal Immigration Family Equity Act.
