RETRIAL BEGINS IN ARKANSAS IMMIGRANT SEX CASE
A second trial began this week in Little Rock, Arkansas in the case of five people accused of bringing women to the US from China for sexual purposes. The first trial ended in a mistrial last summer after the jurors were unable to reach a verdict. The five are accused of marriage fraud, and three of them are accused of harboring an undocumented immigrant.
The five charged are David Jewell Jones, a Little Rock businessman, Tony and Mary Ma, Mark Riable, a former state legislator, and Bob Rushing. Prosecutors say that Jones brought two women into the US using fraudulent fiancée visas.
During the initial trial, one of the women claimed that Jones raped her, an accusation she later retracted. She and two others are now facing charges in connection with the false testimony. Jones denies having sex with either of the women.
