WITNESS IN ARKANSAS IMMIGRANT SEX TRIAL CHARGED WITH MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS
One of the witnesses in the trial last summer of a Little Rock, Arkansas, businessman who was charged with importing a woman from China for sexual purposes has been indicted for making false statements. Yue Hao Zhong, along with two others who did not testify, are accused of misleading investigators into thinking that David Jewell Jones committed rape.
The trial ended with a deadlocked jury and a mistrial was declared. A new trial is scheduled for later this month, in which Jones will face fewer and less severe charges.
At the trial last year Zhong claimed that Jones raped her upon her arrival in the US. An investigation has since revealed a tape of Zhong talking with local law enforcement officials in which she admitted that the sex was consensual and that she willingly became Jones’ mistress.
If convicted Zhong and the two others face up to ten years in prison and fines of up to $ 250,000.
