Cubans Storm Embassy
Twenty Cuban asylum seekers crashed a bus through the gate of the Mexican embassy and stormed the building. The group shouted anti-Castro slogans and threatened to jump of the roof of the building if the police took any action. The occupation was set off by speculation that Mexico would grant asylum to any Cuban wishing to leave the island. Both Mexican and Cuban officials deny any that there is any truth buried in the speculation.

EU Approves Plan To Combat Illegal Immigration
Justice and Interior ministers for the European Union approved a plan for combating illegal immigration. The plan is based upon visa identification and information exchange. It goes on to cover issues such as, effective policing of borders, re-admission, repatriation and the creation of a visa databank.

Romanians Threaten To Throw Babies Into English Channel
A group of Romanian asylum seekers have threatened to throw their babies off a ferry crossing the English Channel, if they are not allowed to enter Britain. The asylum seekers made the threats in a fit of rage, after immigration officials denied them entry into Britain. The asylum seekers were refused because they were believed to be in possession fraudulent travel documents.

Malaysia Detains 3,700 Illegal Immigrants
The island of Borneo was the scene of one of the largest crackdowns on illegal immigration in recent history, when the Malaysian government detained 3,700 suspected illegal immigrants. The crackdown comes at a time when Malaysia is trying to rein in Islamic extremists and Indonesia is playing host to a people smuggling conference, which commenced on February 27.
