BORDER NEWS According to an INS memo obtained by the Associated Press, the US will expand the list of countries subject to special immigration registration requirements to include Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Yemen. They will be officially added on October 1. Visitors from Iran, Iraq, Libya and Sudan are already on the list, and are fingerprinted and photographed upon entry, and are also required to register with their local INS office once a year, among other requirements. The memo also encourages immigration inspectors to determine whether the applicant for entry has visited Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Egypt, Somalia, Pakistan, Indonesia or Malaysia and cannot provide a credible reason for the trip.
