International Roundup Slovenian police detained 29 alleged gang members that
smuggled undocumented immigrants from Croatia through Slovenia into Italy,
according to the Slovenian press. The
gang charged between 200 and 500 euros to guide immigrants in small groups on
foot across the border from Croatia before taking them by car to the frontier
with Italy. In last week’s
crackdown, police also detained 90 immigrants while some escaped. ***** The Immigration Department of Thailand will launch a mobile service as part of its contribution towards boosting Phukets tourism industry, as immigration officers will staff desks at two popular resort hotels for two months. The Immigration Department is in hopes that the service, which will offer advice as well as extensions to tourist visas, will persuade tourists to add another 10-to-15 days to their stays .
