Dear Readers:
We are getting closer to the introduction of major comprehensive immigration reform bills in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Expect the Senate bill to be introduced first. Expect the bill to be introduced in the next two weeks with the House bill shortly after that.
While many expect the Senate bill to be a re-run of the bill they passed last year, some are speculating it could differ significantly due to the changed makeup of the Senate. As I did last year, I will be posting section by section summaries of the two bills and will try and get this done within a day or two of the bill being introduced. I will also live blog during the debate in each House and track amendment votes.

Immigration lawyers from around the US will soon be gathering in Washington for the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s annual Lobby Day. If you have never been lobbying on Capitol Hill, it is an experience not be missed. You really can make a difference in advocacy efforts. I’ve heard the phrase "one visit is worth a thousand letters" to a Congressman or Senator and I really believe that is true.
You can learn more about AILA’s Lobby Day by going to www.aila.org. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
