Nonimmigrant visas: Hours are 8:30a-11:00a Monday through Friday; H & L visas require original petition or approval notice (I-797), or INS telegraphic confirmation; for derivative aliens, copy of principal alien's original visa and change-of-status. Supplemental questionnaire for student visa applicants. An NIV applicant can apply twice in person within two years and after that only by mail unless the person is invited for another in-person interview. Visas are processed by mail only from persons who are residents of or physically present in the consular district. 
Immigrant visas: Hours are by appointment from 9:00a on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday. Registered birth certificates are required; if unavailable, certificate of non-availability for the "panchayat" or municipal office of the applicant's place of birth along with two affidavits from parents or relatives.
