IMMIGRATION IMPLICATIONS OF EXPANDED BOYCOTT AGAINST IRAN
On May 6th, President Clinton signed an executive order imposing additional economic sanctions against Iran. The State Department has issued a cable to all consular posts directing the posts to refuse a nonimmigrant or immigrant visa to any Iranian or other third country national whom the consular officer believes is seeking to come to the US to engage in trade with Iran or its government or to finance such trade. Visas may, however, be issued to persons trading in Iranian-origin publications and materials imported for news publications or broadcast dissemination. |
