The Immigration and Naturalization Service, effective June 5, 1995, will increase its direct mail program to allow for a number of applicants to file by mail with the regional service centers rather than with their local INS office. Asylum applicants, F-1 Students seeking practical training, J-2 spouses or minor children, K-1 nonimmigrants and others will be required to apply for the EAD at the service centers. Applications for employment authorization by adjustment of status applications will still be filed with the local INS office. The INS has issued a new instruction sheet to accompany Form I-765 and applicants are advised to check the form before filing at the service center.
