and the CARRIBBEANEntitlement to immigrant status in the DV category lasts only through the end of the fiscal (visa) year for which the applicant is selected in the lottery. The year of entitlement for all applicants registered for the DV-96 program ends as of September 30, 1996. DV visas may not be issued to DV-96 applicants after that date. Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join DV-96 principals are only entitled to derivative DV status until September 30, 1996. C. AVAILABILITY OF EMPLOYMENT "OTHER WORKER" (EW) NUMBERS A small amount of "EW" numbers which had been provided to consular offices for April were returned unused after the end of that month and thus became available for reallocation. All remaining "EW" numbers have been allocated for applicants whose priority dates are within the July cut-off date (which is 08MAY87). No furtherallocation of "EW" numbers will be possible for the remainder of FY-1996. Regular "EW" allocations will resume in October, the first month of the new fiscal year. A cut-off date of 1988 is possible for October. Subsequent advances in the cut-off date will depend on the quantities and priority dates of applicants for visas or adjustment of status in this category. |
