EMPLOYMENT-BASED GREEN CARDS FOR SOME INDIANS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER
The June 1996 Visa Bulletin issued by the Department of State states that visas for Indian Employment Third Preference Visas are no longer available until October 1st, the beginning of the new fiscal year. This is a result of statutory per country limits and the very heavy demand for such visas by Indian nationals. The State Department has also warned that visas in the second employment category for Indian nationals will run out as early as July. If you have an adjustment application or a consular application pending and you fall into an unavailable category, you will probably find your visa unavailable and adjudication of your case delayed until October. You should still be able to apply for a renewal of your work authorization if it is set to expire before October. If you have not filed for adjustment before the visa numbers run out, you will probably be forced to wait until October before your application will be accepted. |
