ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE JUNE 1996 VISA BULLETIN

B. DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY

Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides
55,000 immigrant visas each fiscal year to provide immigration
opportunities for persons from countries other than the principal
sources of current immigration to the United States. DV visas are
divided among six geographic regions. Not more than 3,850 visas
(7% of the 55,000 visa limit) may be provided to immigrants from
any one country.

For JUNE, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to
qualified applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries
as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are
available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers
BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:

          All DV Chargeability
          Areas Except Those
Region Listed Separately

AFRICA AF 26,500

ASIA AS 08,720 EXCEPT: BANGLADESHA AS 05,762

EUROPE EU 37,600 EXCEPT: POLAND EU 04,586

NORTH AMERICA CURRENT
 (BAHAMAS)

OCEANIA OC OO,600

SOUTH AMERICA, CURRENT
 CENTRAL AMERICA
 and the CARRIBBEAN

The visa cases of applicants selected for the FY-1196 Diversity
(DV-96) program must be completed by September 30, 1996, since
DV-96 registered expire on that date.

C. NOTES OF FUTURE VISA AVAILABILITY

Unavailability of INDA Employment THIRD Preference: Demand for
numbers in the INDIA Employment THIRD Preference by applicants at
INS offices has been very heavy during FY-1996. Allocations in the
INDIA Employment THIRD Preference category are "UNVAILABLE" for
June, since the category limit for the year has been reached.
INDIA Employment THIRD Preference allocations will resume in
October, the first month of the new fiscal year.

Anticipated oversubscription of INDIA Employment SECOND Preference:
A visa cut-off in the INDIA Employment SECOND Preference is
possible as early as July due to heavy applicant demand for
numbers.

Likely unavailability of MEXICO FIRST Preference: Heavy applicant
demand in the MEXICO Family First Preference is likely to mean that
numbers in the MEXICO category will become unavailable in July.
