Non-immigrant Visas: Applications accepted daily between 8:30 and 11:00 am. No limits to the number of reapplications or when a new application may be submitted. Approval rate: between 80 and 90 percent. The post requires a supplemental E visa questionnaire (it uses the form developed for the US Consulate in London). Allow one month for E visa processing. Nationals of countries other than Spain who have been in Spain for only a few years may have difficulty at this consulate as will young, unemployed Spaniards requesting visas of several months. 
Immigrant Visas: Applications accepted daily between 9 am and 11:30 am. Applications will be processed on the basis of a cabled approval notice from INS and receipt of the appropriate supporting documents. The post will generate its own packet 3 requesting documents from the applicant. The post is reluctant to accept jurisdiction for cases of persons who are not nationals of Spain. 
Medical Exams: Only one clinic in Madrid is approved for medical exams:

Applicants should schedule their medical exams the day before their immigrant visa interview. Be prepared to present one passport size photo and your passport at the time of your medical exam.
