A MESSAGE FROM SISKIND, SUSSER, HAAS & CHANG

This month's issue is our most ambitious effort to date - more than 30 articles. We report on all of our usual features - Immigration and the Internet, Consular Focus, Legislative Update, etc. - as well as a host of legal developments in the immigration arena.

We would also like to thank the many readers who responded to our request to sign off on a letter to Congress regarding the remediation of some of the most extreme anti-immigrant sections of the new immigration law. Please remember to contact your Senators and Congressman to remind them of the importance of extending Section 245i of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This provision in the law allows person otherwise eligible for immigration to adjust status in the United States by paying a $1000 penalty. This provision in the law may be the only hope available for many who will become subject to the new 3 and 10 year bars on immigration that take effect on September 27th. Remember, your representatives really do pay attention to their letters. Foes of legal immigration know this and you should as well.

This month, firm partner Gregory Siskind will be speaking at the annual meeting of the American Bar Association in San Francisco. He will also be attending a special invitation-only joint meeting between the ABA's Coordinating Committee on Immigration Law and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. The meeting is intended to be a briefing for leaders of the various sections of the ABA on various immigration issues and is being hosted by the ABA president. Firm partner Henry Chang will also be in San Francisco at the same time attending the American Immigration Lawyers Association Board of Governors meeting. Henry is the Chairman of AILA's Canada chapter.

Finally, we would like to remind readers that our twelve lawyers are able to serve immigration clients in any state or province in the US or Canada. You are always welcome to call us toll free at 800-748-3819. We also provide full-scale consultations via telephone. Just complete the appointment request questionnaire at http://www.visalaw.com/intake.html.
