Telephone inquiries are accepted by the NIV from 3 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and by the IV Section from 8:15 am to 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Ask for the respective consular officer.

* Non-Immigrant Visa Processing:

Only Dutch citizens can apply for a visa via mail. Although applications are not accepted from travel agents or courier services, there is a drop box located a the consulate.

Visa application and issuance are done in one day. Applications are accepted daily between 8:30 and 12:00 pm. Approved visas are issued and returned with passports between 2:30 and 3:00 pm on the day of application.

The consulate highly scrutinizes young females (18-25) suspected of coming to the US to work as au pairs. The consulate will question suspected individuals applying for long term B-2 visas as to their intentions. Those applicants subject to suspicion and heightened scrutiny are: female, 18-25 years in age; planning to stay in the U.S. with a U.S. family for longer than 6 months; especially when the visa applicant has no previous connection to the family.

* Immigrant Visas:

The consulate accepts Form I-130 petitions daily between 8:30 am and 11:30 am.

The approval rate for immigrant visas is very high and visas are usually issued on the same day following the final interview.

The processing time from receipt of a packet 3 until interview appointment is 6-12 weeks.

The post will process IV cases on the basis of a cable from INS in an emergency. It is strongly suggested that the Consulate be called prior to arranging to process an IV on the basis of a cable from INS . The Consulate does generate its own packet 3 upon receipt of a cable from INS.

* Representation

The consulate does not permit attorneys to be present in the consulate at any time during the application process. This includes being prohibited from attending any visa interviews or . Telephone inquiries from attorneys are accepted from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

* Medical Exams:

The consulate schedules medical exams with approved doctors.

Exams are scheduled 3-4 days prior to the final interview.
