IMMIGRATION AND THE INTERNET - IMMIGRANT RIGHTS GROUPS
This month, we list two web sites that have as their focus the protection of the rights of immigrants in the United States as well as another site that contains substantial information on welfare reform and immigration.
The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law Foundation is based in Los Angeles, California and is the organization representing hundreds of thousands of plaintiffs in the late amnesty class action cases. The CHRCLF web site is at http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/cholguin. The site is not extensive, but it does contain useful information updating members of the public on the status of the amnesty class action cases.
Citizens & Immigrants for Equal Justice is a coalition of family members "fighting to change the harsh new immigration laws." The site contains information on how to contact members of Congress, information on the new laws themselves and a forum to post your own stories about the impact of the new immigration laws. The address of the site is http://members.aol.com/DIVERSTY99/index.html.
The State and Local Coalition on Immigration, a part of the National Conference on State Legislatures, has a web site for its Immigration Policy Project at http://www.ncsl.org/statefed/ipphmpg.htm. The site is rich with information on the impact of welfare reform on immigrant communities. At the site you'll find detailed reports by the NCSL on the subject and newsletters on federal legislative activities as well as state immigration policies. The site has a number of its past issues archived at the site as well.
