NEW IMMIGRATION AND NATURALIZATION RULE RENAMES GREEN CARD

The official name of the document commonly known as the 'green card,' Form I-551, the "Alien Registration Receipt Card," is being changed to "Permanent Resident Card." The document is already commonly referred to as a permanent resident card, and the INS hopes the name change will more accurately reflect the purposes of the form. The change is of name only and there will be no change in any policy or procedures.
