Nonimmigrant Visas:

Applications accepted Monday through Friday (except on the holidays noted below) between 8:30 am and 11:00 am. Applications can only be submitted in person and not by mail or other means. Applicants are normally interviewed and approved or denied all in one day. Applicants re-applying after a refusal must wait until all first-time applicants have been processed.

Applicants must bring the following to the interview:

- current passport

- color or black and white passport photo on light background

- $20 application fee plus $30 visa fee ($120 for multiple entries); the latter fee is only paid if approved for the visa

- exact address where the person intends to stay in the US

- supporting documentation including I-20s for F visas, IAP-66 forms for J-1s and the normal documentation evidencing non-immigrant intent

Visa approval rate: 48% (this is very low compared to other countries)

Immigrant Visas

Immigrant visas are not issued in Kiev. Ukrainian residents must process immigrant visas in Warsaw, Poland. However, I-130 applications can be submitted in Kiev. They will then be immediately forwarded to the embassy in Warsaw. The interview and visa issuance will also take place in Warsaw.

Medical Exam

The medical exam can be done in Kiev even though visa processing takes place in Warsaw. The clinic in Kiev which conducts these exams is the Clinic of the Oil Industry of Ukraine at 9 Protassiv Yar. The phone number is 244-89-41 or 244-41-81. Exams are performed Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm. The exam costs $65. Be prepared to present a passport or ID, a passport-size photo, a military service card (where applicable) and a vaccination chart.
