FOUR INDICTED IN FRAUDULENT GREEN CARD MARRIAGE
When James Foy married Fatima B’Sibiss on April 29, 1998 so she could get a green card and remain in the U.S. legally, he received $ 1,500. After he failed to arrive for the INS interview to validate the marriage, Abdelkhalek Lahlimi-Alami, B’Sibiss’ boyfriend and the father of her child, called Foy’s mother and threatened her. She then called the police. James Foy agreed to cooperate with the authorities, and after a five-month investigation, B’Sibiss, Lahlimi-Alami, and two others who had been involved in arranging the marriage were indicted. Another interview was scheduled; when B’Sibiss and Lahlimi-Alami, along with one of the others who had been indicted, arrived for the interview, they were arrested. An arrest warrant has been issued for the fourth indicted person. Each of the people involved faces up to three months in prison and deportation at the end of the prison term.
