USIA ADOPTS FINAL RULE ON J-1 WAIVER FEES The US Information Agency has adopted a final rule adopting a fee for applications of the J-1 home residency requirement. The final rule adopts unchanged an interim rule published in June 1998. The fee for waiver applications will continue to be $ 136. There were some comments suggesting that the USIA have different fees depending on the type of waiver application since some applications presumably take more time than others. The USIA did not accept this argument stating that certain administrative tasks were common to all of the applications and the administrative costs vary little between application types.
