NEW J-1 EXCHANGE PROGRAM CHIEF NAMED

President Clinton has nominated Evelyn S. Lieberman to be the new State Department Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. This is a new position created as part of the merger of the United States Information Agency into the State Department. Ms. Lieberman will assume responsibility for managing the USIA’s current educational and exchange visitor programs. Lieberman previously served as deputy White House chief of staff and the director of the Voice of America. She currently serves as a senior advisor to Secretary of State Albright.
