GREEN CARD MARRIAGE FRAUD SUIT FILED IN NEW JERSEY
A complaint filed in federal court in New Jersey accuses Manuel Febus of marrying as many as 11 women to help them obtain green cards and alleges that in at least one case he charged a fee. The degree of complicity of the brides, if any, was not revealed in the complaint. Almost all of the women used photographs taken with him at the wedding as part of their application packets to the INS. Eventually, of course, someone noticed this. On each of the applications Febus stated that he married the woman on a certain date, and that he had no prior wives. Robert Frank, chair of the Immigration, Naturalization and Americanism division of the New Jersey State Bar Association says he has never heard of such a prolific groom. Court records show that the presentation of the case to a grand jury is being delayed while the parties negotiate a plea agreement
