NACARA MOTION TO REOPEN DEADLINE EXTENDED
On January 14, 1999 the Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review issued a statement announcing the impending publication in the Federal Register of an extension of the deadline for filing of motions to reopen certain NACARA cases. The previous deadline was February 8, 1999. When the new deadline will be depends on the final rule, yet to be announced, implementing section 203 of NACARA. Once this rule becomes effective (the public comment period ends January 24, 1999) applicants will have an additional 150 days in which to file any additional documents in support of their application. When the final rule on section 203 is issued, this rule on the deadline will be specified.
