H-IB VISA QUOTA HALF USED FOR FISCAL YEAR
As of December 31, 1999, 59,108 of the 115,000 H-1B visas available for Fiscal Year 1999 have been used, according to recent statistics released by the INS. 19,431 of the visas were issued to applicants whose applications were held over from the last fiscal year. 39,677 new cases were approved. Extrapolating from these numbers, the remaining 55,892 visas are likely to be used up before the fiscal year ends on September 30, 1999. In fact, numbers could be used up as early as May or June.
