TEMPORARY AMNESTY EXTENDED TO KOSOVO NATIONALS
Because of the recently ended NATO conflict in the region, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) granted to Kosovo nationals in the US last summer has been extended and will now not expire until June 8, 2000. Under the new grant of TPS, eligible persons include those who have already received TPS, and Kosovo nationals who have been continuously present in the US since June 18, 1999. Kosovo nationals seeking TPS must apply before July 8, 1999. Those who already registered and received TPS last summer must reapply to maintain TPS through June 8, 2000. Re-registration does not require payment of an additional fee, although extension of employment authorization does require a fee. Those who have not before applied for TPS should do so by filing Form I-821 accompanied by a $ 50 filing fee. Additionally, applicants must submit a $ 25 fee for fingerprinting. Applicants seeking employment authorization should submit Form I-765 along with a $ 100 application fee.
