CHINESE, IRAQI INS DETAINEES BRAWL
Six members of the Iraqi National Congress, a London-based group opposed to the rule of Saddam Hussein, were involved in a one-minute fight at the prison in Mira Loma, California where they have been held in detention for almost two years. The six and two other Iraqis were attacked by as many as 40 Chinese prisoners. There were no serious injuries, but nine people were treated for cuts and bruises. Leaders of the Iraqi National Congress have expressed concern over the attack. The six men have been seeking asylum, but the Justice Department has denied it out of fear they are secret agents of Saddam Hussein. Their case has gained international attention. The day before the fight a camera crew from the CBS show "60 Minutes" was there to interview the men.
