CONSULAR FOCUS: HANOI, VIETNAM
Having recently opened, the US Embassy in Hanoi is authorized to issue all types of nonimmigrant visas, except for B-2 (tourist) and K (finance) visas. For student visas (F1) and exchange visitor (J1), original I-20 and IAP-66 forms are required.
Visa applicants must submit their applications in person (from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., Monday to Friday) and pay a $45 application fee. Consular officers then interview applicants. After one working day, the applicant (or an authorized person) can come back to the Embassy at 8:00 a.m. with a passport, pay the issuance fee and then pick up the passport at 4:00 p.m.
To avoid unexpected delays, however, it is suggested that visa applications be submitted at least three (3) weeks before the expected date of departure.
The fee for a B-1 tourist visa is as follows:
· Single entry, valid for three months: $25
· Multiple entry, valid for twelve months: $100. Fees are payable in U.S. currency only.
The Embassy is closed on both American and Vietnamese holidays.
The consular section of the Hanoi Embassy may be reached at:
Mailing Address: #4 Le Duan St., District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Telephone: (84)(8) 822-9433
Fax: (84)(8) 822-9434
