IMMIGRATION AND THE INTERNET
The Center for Gender and Refugee Studies (CGRS), a program based out of the University of California Hastings College of Law now has an Internet address at http://www.uchastings.edu/cgrs. The site is very informative, and provides many resources, including summaries of gender related asylum cases. For example, the Center is focusing on a recent decision of the Board of Immigration Appeals denying asylum to a woman who had been the victim of extreme domestic violence.
Researching asylum claims will be easier with a new website, www.asylumlaw.org. The organization Asylumlaw.org was founded in early 1999 with the goal of using the Internet to provide resources to attorneys and others in presenting asylum claims. The site contains links to sources of international asylum law and links to information on country conditions as well as other information that is crucial in presenting an asylum claim.
