DV-2001 LOTTERY TO BEGIN SOON

The State Department National Visa Center will begin accepting applications for the DV-2001 lottery on October 4, 1999. Applications will be accepted until November 3, 1999. Under the terms of the lottery, citizens of most nations are eligible for 50,000 visas annually. Some countries that already have high levels of immigration to the U.S. are not eligible. These countries are Canada, China, Columbia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
