U.S. EMBASSY IN MEXICO ANNOUNCES NEW VISA PROCESSING RULES
The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City is now offering a special visa processing system for applicants who must enter the U.S. on short notice. Ordinarily, visa processing in Mexico City takes about two weeks, under the new program, it could take as little as two or three days.
Among those who will most benefit from the new process will be students attending higher education institutions in the U.S. To take advantage of the new process, students should send a fax addressed to the Consul of the Month at the embassy in Mexico City. The fax should contain the following information: a copy of the student’s I-20, the name of the school attended, the planned dates of study, and other personal information necessary to secure a visa.
Of course, as always the best way to avoid problems in the visa application process is to schedule the appointment as far in advance of the desired time of entry as possible.
