British Writer Denied Entry to the US
Sebastian Horsley, a British author who has written a memoir detailing his life of drug use and encounters with prostitutes, Dandy in the Underworld, was denied entry to the US at Newark Liberty International Airport, where he planned to embark on a New York tour of his book. Mr. Horsley was detained by customs authorities for eight hours and questioned about his former drug addiction, use of prostitutes and activity as a male escort.
Under immigration law, those who have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, including controlled-substance violations, or admit to previously having a drug addiction are inadmissible to the US.
Mr. Horsley has been able to enter the US in the past with no problem. However, once he was denied entry, the author boarded a British Airways flight back to England.
