O-1 Passes Judiciary Committee
HR 1312, also known as the Arts Require Timely Service (ARTS) Act, would amends the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) to provide for faster adjudication of O-1 petitions for aliens of extraordinary ability.
According to the act, if such a petition is not adjudicated within the required time frame and the petitioner is a qualified nonprofit organization or an individual or entity petitioning on behalf of a qualified nonprofit organization, the petitioner will be provided premium-processing services without the $1000 filing fee.
The bill, which would require O-1 petitions to be adjudicated in 30 days or less, has now passed the House Judiciary Committee and is awaiting a vote on the House floor. After that, the Senate will need to pass the same bill before it can be signed in to law by the President.
