BOY GEORGE DENIED ENTRY TO US
One of Britain's weirder celebrities is denied entry to the US. When I first saw the headlines on this, I assumed there was a drug issue. But the denial stems from pending charges relating to George's alleged false imprisonment of a 28 year old man in the UK.

The NY Times reports on a long American tradition of sending newly naturalized citizens to compete for the country. Nine immigrant athletes are set to be naturalized in time to compete in Beijing.

WEINER PESSIMISTIC ON CHANCES FOR FASHION MODEL VISA BILL THIS YEAR
Politico reports that Anthony Weiner is concerned that despite movement in the House on moving fashion models to the P arts and sports visa category, there may not be enough time to get a bill passed in the Senate before the end of the legislative session.

VISA ADVOCATES ARGUE THAT FOREIGN MODELS ARE JOB CREATORS
Reuters has an article that is, to be frank, snippy in tone insinuating that Congressman Anthony Weiner, the sponsor of legislation to move foreign fashion models from the H-1B category normally reserved for workers with professionals degrees in to the more appropriate P visa category reserved for artists and athletes, is only sponsoring the legislation because he likes beautiful women. Only at the tail end of the article do they mention that 60% of fashion shoots in the country are done in New York City, the place he represents.
