OPENERS
Dear Readers:
Time continues to pass and yet there is still no action from Congress on several critical problems in health care for which there are immigration solutions available. The two most prominent bills relate to the creation of a new H-1C visa for nurses and expanding the State 20 program for doctors to a State 40 program. Both bills could lead to dramatic improvements in the persistent shortages that plague the nursing and physician professions in this country. We wish we could report movement on these bills, but there have been no changes to their status. We expect to contact our readers soon with information on how each of you can help in advocating these bills.
This week Karen Weinstock, the attorney at our firm who writes much of this publication, is moving. But not to worry – Karen is relocating in Atlanta in order to open Siskind, Susser, Haas & Devine’s Georgia office. Karen’s email address will remain kweinstock@visalaw.com. Her contact information in Atlanta will be announced when the new office opens next week. Karen will continue her editorial role with this newsletter.
We want to inform readers in the San Francisco Bay area that we are presenting a seminar entitled “How to Hire Nurses, Doctors and Other Healthcare Workers from Overseas” on Wednesday, June 12th from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. You can register online for the program at http://www.visalaw.com/healthseminar.html.
Finally, we would like to remind readers of our policy regarding consultations with health care professionals and employers. We do not charge for consultations with health care workers and employers; all you need to do is complete the consultation request form on our website: https://www.visalaw.com.secure.moses.com/healthintake.html.
Regards,
Greg Siskind
