If you watched the 2016 Grammy Awards, you were treated to a remarkable piano performance from a Grammy nominee in two categories. Twelve year old Joey Alexander, an immigrant from Indonesia, was up for Best Improvised Jazz Performance as well as Best Jazz Instrumental Album. He didn’t win, but this kid is going places. He taught himself jazz piano at the age of six – just six years ago – and is already being recognized as one of the world’s great jazz pianists. If you want to sample his work, go here.
