He is involved in several corporate office and health-care projects throughout Tennessee, including the Indian Lake Office Center in Hendersonville.
Chad Jones is an intern architect. He is involved with office and manufacturing projects in Tennessee and North Carolina. Automotive Driver's Way has announced these staff changes in its Cool Springs store: Joseph Webb Jr. joins as sales associate. He has previous sales experience as an inside sales representative for Dell Computer and as a sales agent for American General. Erin Bacalan, previously finance assistant, has been named sales associate. Awards Douglas C. Crawford, operations assistant at the Nashville Rescue Mission, received a Citizen Commendation Award from Metro Police during a recognition ceremony at the North Precinct station. Crawford helped restrain a violent visitor who was assaulting a police officer who had responded to a call from the mission. Andrew C. Porter is among alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education who has been named as a recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award. He will receive the award during an Alumni Awards program scheduled for Saturday in the Margaret H'Doubler Performance Space of Lathrop Hall on the university campus in Madison, Wis. Porter is director of the Learning Sciences Institute at Vanderbilt University and former director, Wisconsin Center for Education Research. The Tennessee Chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals presented these companies with 2005 Tennessee American Business Ethics Awards in recognition of demonstrating a firm commitment to ethical practices in their daily operations: American Retirement Corp., large company. Coldwell Banker Barnes, midsize company. Southern Land Co., small company, Division I. Mike Thomson Ford-Mercury-Mazda, small company, Division II. Shin's Martial Arts Institute, small company, Division III. James Neeley, commissioner for the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development, received a distinguished service award from the National Association of State Directors of Career and Technical Education. Neely was recognized for his lifelong dedication to work force development, labor and education. Betty Wentworth, a broker in the Green Hills office of Shirley Zeitlin & Co., Realtors, received the 2004 Education Achievement Award from the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors. The award recognizes Realtor commitment to ongoing professional development. Holland Roofing of Nashville Inc. received the 2005 Master Contractor Award from Firestone Building Products Co. in recognition of dedication to quality roofing installations. Firestone-licensed contractors earn the Master Contractor Award each year based on total square footage and quality points for achieving exceptional inspection ratings on the company's roofing system installations. Firestone Building Products Co. is an Indianapolis-based manufacturer for the commercial roofing industry. Vanderbilt University received the 2005 Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership Green Schools Award for recycling from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Deputy Commissioner Paul Sloan presented the award to Chancellor Gordon Gee, General Services Director Lisbeth Wyatt and representatives of Students Promoting Environmental Awareness and Recycling. Boards Susan Lane, curator of the Lane Motor Museum, has been named a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Automobile Museums. Chambers The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce has announced these staff additions: Sarae Janes joins as communications coordinator to assist with daily communications and media relations. Janes was marketing and business development coordinator at the law firm of Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry. Cynthia McCord joins as database specialist in the membership and marketing department. McCord most recently served as the director of gift records and accounting at Meharry Medical College. Shana Parrish joins as major events coordinator. Parrish recently relocated from Alpharetta, Ga., where she worked as an event manager for North Point Community Church. Construction Jim Carden, previously sales manager for Capitol Homes Inc., has been named operations manager. He oversees the construction team and office operations besides his duties with the sales team. Hunter Brooks has been named superintendent for Holland Roofing RMM of Nashville, a division of the Holland Roofing Group. With more than 15 years of experience, Brooks is responsible for quality, production and related activities. The Holland Roofing Group specializes in commercial and industrial roofing. Elections The Phoenix Club of Nashville, a civic, social and service organization dedicated to supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, has announced these board members for 2005-2006: Bob Jacobs, president. Thomas Kelley, civil site engineer, is a licensed professional engineer and a certified professional in erosion and sediment control. Kori Luckett, an intern architect, was an intern architect with Gobbel Hays Partners Inc. Mark McDowell, project architect, was with Gossen-Gasaway-Holloway in Hammond, La. He is a registered architect and interior designer in the state of Louisiana and a member of the AIA and ASID. Ramona Ramaker, senior interior designer, was with the Hnedak Bobo Group Inc. in Memphis. Ramaker is a member of the International Interior Design Association. Alan Skankey, an associate member of the International Interior Design Association, rejoins as interior design intern. Jessica Zinggeler joins as an administrative assistant. Daniel Hopkins, construction inspector, has more than 40 years of experience in sewer, water construction and sewer rehabilitation. Hopkin was with Consoer Townsend Envirodyne Engineers Inc. Entertainment Bryan Switzer has been retained by Gulf Coast Records for artist and radio consulting. Praise Hymn Soundtracks, an entity of Provident Label Group, has announced these staff changes: James Hume has been named associate director of marketing and recording programs. He handles all marketing for the division and oversees the Praise Hymn independent artist-recording program. Dean Newkirk, previously production assistant, has been named production coordinator. Mary Hall joins as assistant to Leadership Team members. Previously, Hall served in a similar role for the CEO at Cumberland Bank in Brentwood. Chamaine Harp, client service specialist at Pinnacle Brentwood, was a business banking assistant at AmSouth Bank in Franklin. She has nine years experience. Brad Smith, a commercial credit analyst, was with Integra Bank in Evansville, Ind., where he served as a credit analyst, environmental review officer and appraisal services manager. Shelia Stroud joins as service specialist. Among her 26 years of customer service experience is serving as a teller for SunTrust Bank and as an associate retail service representative for Mattell Inc. Lenda Elmlinger joins the Cool Springs office as a financial adviser. She has 18 years of experience with SunTrust Bank, where she served as a vice president in the private banking division. Michelle Pentecost has joined Civitas BankGroup in Franklin as vice president and manager of loan operations. Previously, Pentecost was the commercial loan operations manager at AmSouth Bank. Anne B ''Mimi'' Wallace, senior vice president — investments, Nashville office of UBS Financial Services Inc., has earned the designation of certified investment management analyst from the Investment Management Consultants Association. The Denver-based nonprofit association represents the investment consulting industry. Bank of America has announced these staff changes: Kaz Shakir has been named senior vice president, Commercial Banking Group. He has been an investment banker for eight years, having joined the bank in 2000 as a principal with Banc of America Securities in New York. Erin Hinton joins as market development specialist. Market development functions include local charitable investments, marketing sponsorships, media relations, government relations and community involvement. Hinton was previously with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. Adam Charlton joins Banc of America Investment Services Inc. as a financial adviser. Based in the Hillsboro Village Banking Center, Charlton will focus on providing comprehensive financial planning services. He was a financial adviser for UBS Financial Services Inc. Larry Banniza has joined the Nashville office of First State Bank as a vice president and branch manager. Banniza, with more than 33 years of experience, is responsible for developing client relations, assisting with commercial lending and overseeing daily branch functions. He was branch manager for South Trust Bank at West End. Eddy A. Brown has joined First Tennessee Home Loans as a relationship manager. He was owner of Eddy Brown and Associates. Health care Alive Hospice has announced these staff additions: Amy Brandau joins as a senior accountant. Amy Coldren joins as a social worker. Cheryl Webster joins as volunteer specialist. Steve Otto is chief operating officer at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, a HCA facility in Las Vegas. He has served as CEO of River Park Hospital in McMinnville, Tenn., since September 2001. George Asbell, a hospital administrator with HCA, will serve as interim CEO of River Park Hospital, effective May 16. Beth Zeitlin has been named senior market director of the American Diabetes Association of Middle Tennessee. She will manage volunteer development, programming and fundraising efforts for the Middle Tennessee market, collaborate with the local Leadership Council and coordinate the Father of the Year Awards and the Jean Therapy Gala. Zeitlin was previously area director for the Middle Tennessee chapter. Paul Gilliland is vice president & chief financial officer at Wellness Environments. He is a five-year veteran of SmartDM Holdings Inc., which was recently acquired by Acxiom Corp., where he served as chief financial officer. Ken Cotton has joined Williams Medical Supply as vice president in charge of coordinating patient care with the hospitals, doctors and home health agencies. Cotton was previously manager of Baptist Medical Equipment Co. Dr. Kenneth M. Lloyd was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Radiology during a formal convocation ceremony at the ACR 82nd Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference in Washington. Lloyd is affiliated with Baptist Hospital and is chairman of the board of directors of the Nashville Academy of Medicine. Insurance Vincent Hau has been named senior vice president of business development for Marsh USA. He leads the business development group for the risk and insurance services firm's offices within Tennessee. Jerry Self has joined the PMA Insurance Group in Brentwood as risk management services underwriting manager. Self was director of commercial accounts for the Wausau Insurance Companies. Legal services Donald I.N. McKenzie has announced the formation of his law office in Green Hills. McKenzie has practiced law in Nashville more than 22 years. He will continue to practice general corporate, securities, venture capital financing and mergers and acquisition law. McKenzie was a shareholder in Stokes Bartholomew Evans & Petree, P.A. Yvette Sebelist has formed the Nashville office of Memphis-based Siskind Susser law firm at 102 Woodmont Blvd., Suite 212. Sebelist practices exclusively in the area of immigration law, with an emphasis on employment-based immigration issues. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association for which she served as past advocacy coordinator for the Midsouth chapter. Media Mike Schatz of Schatz & Associates, a media consultant for GSF Media, has been named director of the media agency's audio design division. With 15 years of media experience, he will oversee the production of radio features, programs and promotions. John Wesley, previously director of client development, has been named vice president of client development. He earned a master's of divinity degree from Vanderbilt University, with special emphasis in electronic media communication. Nonprofit Vernon Rose is Southeast region development manager for the National Federation of Independent Business, a small-business advocacy group. He was director of marketing and development at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. Public relations Lovell Communications Inc. has announced these staff changes: Tammy Tobias is an account supervisor. A graduate of West Virginia University, Tobias has more than 10 years of marketing and public relations experience. Jessica Turner, previously an assistant account executive, has been named an account executive.
