Dear Readers:
This past week, a two year project to
use immigration policy to help deliberate vital health care services to one of
the more impoverished sections of the US moved into an exciting new phase. The
Delta Regional Authority, a commission charged with promoting economic
development in an eight state region along the Mississippi River, has launched a
major program to sponsor J-1 physicians to work in medically underserved areas
in the region.
Along with various others, I played an
advisory role to the DRA in establishing this program and I am very pleased that
the program has gone from the drawing board to reality. Communities throughout
the Delta region are going to benefit and the program demonstrates how
government can use immigration policy to deliver tangible benefits to Americans.
For more information on the DRA program, read the ABCs of Immigration article
this week or visit the DRA web site at www.dra.gov.

The firm has gotten more good press
this week. Last week the National Law Journal published a story on our tenth
anniversary online. This week, Lawyers
Weekly, the legal profession’s other major newspaper has a nice story
profiling our web success as well. The DRA also quotes me in the latest
communiqué on that agency’s web site. Both articles are available on our In
the News section on our web site at www.visalaw.com/news.
