According
to a USCIS fact sheet, 200,000 of 250,000 Temporary Protected Status (TPS) visas
and Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for El Salvadorans currently in
the United States have been approved for re-registration.
Approximately 15,000 of those same requests were denied. Those still
awaiting the arrival of their new EAD after having been to a biometrics
appointment should have received or will soon receive a 90-day card until USCIS
completes the application process, or they will receive notification of any
remaining requirements that they have failed to meet. Those who have scheduled
but who have not been to a biometrics appointment will receive a sticker for
their current EAD that will extend its validity until December of this year.
These stickers may only be obtained at Application Support Centers. Any TPS
re-registrant who fails to appear at an ASC risks denial of their application
and withdrawal of their current TPS.
