This morning the House Immigration Subcommittee approved H.R. 4080, a bill that would move fashion models out of the H-1B category and in to a new P visa category. The committee added language that would cap the visas at 1000 per year and a consultation from an appropriate peer group (as is the case for other P visa categories). The bill must now be approved by the full Judiciary Committee and then voted on at the floor level by the House of Representatives. The Senate has not yet taken up a similar bill.
