The US handles visa issuance in Taiwan through an unofficial office called the American Institute in Taiwan.

Nonimmigrant Visas: Approval rate: 95% of E, H and L visas are approved (often after requests for additional supporting documentation). B, F and H visas accepted for processing Monday through Friday 8 am to 11:30 am (times fluctuate). E and L visa applicants must call Monday through Friday for an interview to be scheduled. E visa applicants are interviewed Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and L applicants are interview on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Special notes: The American Institute in Taiwan uses its own longer version of the OF-156.

Immigrant Visas: Interviews are normally scheduled within three months of receiving Packet 3 from the National Visa Center. Visa issuance rate: over 95% of applicants eventually receive an immigrant visa. Special notes: requests by third country nationals handled on a case by case basis; police certificates should be in applicant’s possession at time of visa interview.
