Nonimmigrant visas: Hours are 8:30 to 10:30, Monday through Friday. From May to August, F visas are handled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:30. H visas require original approval notice (I-797). If petitioner in L case is a well-known multinational corporation then original approval notice is sufficient. Otherwise, L visas require original approval notice and copy of the petition. L-1 visa applicants are interviewed by appointment only. Consulate has reputation for re-adjudicating L cases, particularly investigating the viability of the overseas corporation. E visas require an appointment, usually scheduled five to ten days following submission of the application. K visas require original approval notice and copy of petition. Visitor visa applicants can apply via the drop box or Travel Agency Referral Program. Unsuccessful applicants do not have to wait a specified period of time before reapplying.

Immigrant visas: Hours are 8:30 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday. The Consulate will generate the Packet 3 on receipt of original approval notice and copy of petition. Need to submit Certificate of Registered Particulars and a Police Certificate with the Packet 3. Five local doctors are approved to perform medical examinations. The final interview is usually scheduled within two to three months after the Packet 3 is returned. The Hong Kong INS Office will adjudicate I-130 if petitioner is resident of Hong Kong.
