Marilyn Chin is a Hong Kong-born poet who grew up in Portland, Oregon. In addition to being one of our country’s most prominent poets, she is an activist, editor, feminist and Professor of English. Her work is included in many prestigious anthologies and she has won numerous awards. This past week I listened to an NPR interview with Professor Chin after she won this year’s Anisfield-Wolf National Prize for Literature which is awarded annually to the authors of books that contribute to our understanding of racism and our appreciation of diversity. The book that received the honor is Hard Love Province, her fourth volume of poetry. Congratulations Professor Chin.
