First it was American Apparel. Now Abercrombie & Fitch has been fined after getting an I-9 audit. The company will have to fork over just over $1 million as a result of problems discovered at the chain’s Michigan stores. The interesting thing here is that the company was using an electronic I-9 system which usually helps to avoid I-9 problems. The company is said to have cooperated and no actual instances of illegal employment were discovered. But, wow, $1 million for paperwork violations? That’s harsh.

Abercrombie operates 26 stores under the A & F brand as well as the Hollister name.
