The National Visa Center has completed notification of winners of the DV-1 lottery in which more than 6.5 million qualified entries were processed. In previous lotteries, a large number of winners did not pursue or were not eligible to pursue a visa. Consequently, in the DV-1 lottery, many more applicants were chosen than visas are available. DV-1 winners will have to act quickly. Because there is considerable confusion about what is the fastest way to pursue a DV-1 visa, many applicants in the US are simultaneously pursuing both adjustment of status at an INS office and consular processing at a U.S. consulate in their home country.
The final breakdown of DV-1 winners is as follows:
